The 4 Star Theater is an historic 2-screen movie theater located in the Richmond district of San Francisco. It originally opened in 1912 as the La Bonita Theatre and has undergone several name changes over the years, finally settling on the 4-Star Theater in 1946. It is an arthouse theater showing both independent and foreign films for local movie enthusiasts. Notably, it hosted an 11-month run of “La Cage aux Folles” in 1979. Its current owners acquired the theatre in September 2021 and after a renovation reopened in December 2022.
