Netflix reported 3.98M, new subscribers, during Q1, growth that was significantly lower than the 6.2M predicted by Wall Street analysts. The streaming giant now projects that it will add a mere 1M new subscribers during Q2. Netflix’s subscriber growth was bound to slow down after the torrid pace it set in 2020, propelled by a strong content lineup, new momentum in international markets and an eager audience stuck at home during the COVID pandemic and looking for safe entertainment options. On the bright side, the company predicts that it will break even or turn a slight profit during 2021 for the first time in its history.
