Sophia Nomvete is best known for playing the female dwarf Princess Disa on Amazon Studios’ The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power (2022). Prior to her screen work, Nomvete had been a busy British stage actor, appearing with The Royal Shakespeare Company in productions of Vice Versa and Miss Littlewood, and with the Royal National Theatre in England's People Very Nice, as well as the European stage premiere of the theater version of Alice Walker’s The Color Purple.
After four major TV acting credits, including a TV version of Shakespeare’s The Tempest (2018), Nomvete made her big-screen debut in Mafia Mamma (2023), starring Toni Collette and Monica Bellucci, and directed by Catherine Hardwicke.
Sophia Nomvete was born and raised in Reading, United Kingdom, and is of South African (father) and Iranian (mother) heritage. Nomvete is the niece of renowned South African actor Pamela Nomvete. Nomvete studied theater at London’s Arts Educational School, where she graduated with a BA. Nomvete is married to Daniel Cox, whom she met in 2012 and was engaged to in 2015; the couple has one daughter, Corah. Nomvete’s height is 5’ 6”.
